KELLER, Texas – Some parents are upset about who is heading up their children’s sports organization.

By night Steve Craft is a volunteer with the Keller Youth Association.

His supporters appointed him to a three-year term as president of the association, which includes baseball, football and cheerleading leagues for hundreds of kids.

He has a genuine concern about people, those supporters said.

But some parents can’t get past what Craft does to earn a paycheck. By day he works for Burch Management, a company that manages strip clubs throughout the Metroplex.

Ryan Ritter, who has two children and coaches a baseball team, said most parents didn’t know about Craft’s employment when he was appointed earlier this year.

“We have a president who represents hundred, maybe thousands, of children who by day runs a business that exploits young women,” Ritter said.

Last week when news of Craft’s day job surfaced, the Keller Youth Association board held an emergency meeting to reconfirm his position.

Opponents said they had no opportunity to voice their opinion.

“We don’t have a voice. They board just appoints him and says well he’s good enough,” Ritter said.

Ritter’s children will continue to play sports with the association and their friends from school.

He said he does not have a personal vendetta against Craft. He just believes there’s someone better for the job.

“I want my children and other children to be surrounded by positive role models. The adult industry and children, they don’t mix,” he said.

The city of Keller said the organization is a private one and it receives no public funding. However, the teams are allowed to use Keller’s sports fields.

Craft did not respond to FOX 4’s phone calls and requests for an interview.
