OK, maybe it’s just one of my pet peeves but can someone please tell me why professional hockey and lacrosse are the only sports where you and I can get into a fist fight and then 5 minutes later both be on the same field playing as if nothing ever happened?

Time after time, we do a piece on this on our show on WFAN and inevitably, there will be one or two callers who simply say, “Fighting is just a part of hockey…it’s a big part of the game…”

I personally don’t get it. Any sport besides boxing that requires an athlete to have fighting skills isn’t much of a sport at all.

i sit and stew about this one but I’ve never openly asked others what they think so let me know.

    Thanks

    Coach Tony

This practice will continue until a player gets maimed for life or killed. At that point the NHL will leave the fighting up to the UFC. Hockey is years behind other sports in common sense. Is that why they call them goons?

BTW, anyone really doubt that our kids emulate what they see on ESPN?

    Check out these videos

    This stuff is unbelievable.

Bottom line, the NHL has a tough enough getting people to watch their games. If they banned fighting, there would be no sport. In my opinion, that means you don’t really have a true sport anyway.

Someone please try to make an intelligent argument for the NHL because I’ve never heard one!!
